A recent example was to convert a hydraulically driven Slew Drive in the Ore Terminal of a Steel Plant to a mechanical drive comprising of a combined Bevel/Helical/Planetary gearbox. Another example was to convert the drive on a reversing conveyor from a double Worm Box Drive to a Helical/Planetary drive. In this particular case the efficiency of the drive was increased from 83% to 97% together with much improved reliability.

For most Industrial Power Transmission drives Howley are capable of ‘reverse engineering’ and are not dependent on original manufacturer drawings or specifications.
