Howley Engineering specialises in refurbishing all types of industrial gear units from many industrial sectors, for example, the steel, cement and sugar industries.

When working on refurbished industrial gearboxes, it is normal to enhance and upgrade the units during their refurbishment, and this is often achieved by improving the sealing arrangement, increasing bearing capacities and generally using enhanced materials on the components which require renewal.

Howley Engineering also refurbishes Bogiflex and Haflex units. These units are predominantly used in the steel industry, on, for example, Converter Drives, Sinter Machines and Breaker Drives, Torpedo Drives and Stacker Reclaimer Drives. Again, these refurbished industrial gearboxes would normally be upgraded during refurbishment.

The Exciter unit is another product which forms a considerable portion of Howley Engineering’s turnover of refurbished industrial gearboxes.
